The Party Where the Soul Birds Came – Intuitive Story

The Party Where the Soul Birds Came

Stories seep into us and help us open to our intuitive knowing and a sense of possibility. They rekindle a sense of the sacred and remind us to be open to the greater wisdom, beauty and passion that is our birthright.

During our retreat this year and subsequently in group sessions with clients, David has been telling intuitive stories. We thought we’d share one with you.

The Party Where the Soul Birds Came

Have you ever found yourself invited to a party where you didn’t know what was going to happen?

Not that we know what is going to happen very often, but when invited to a party we sort of think we know what to expect. Todd and Jane were invited to a party and nothing they expected happened.

It was a random invitation someone they knew said “Hey, I’m going to something tonight that you should come too!”.

Todd and Jane were shy people, not especially social so they were happy to be invited.  They got the address and the time it was starting but that’s all.  They weren’t really sure where the house was, they’d never even been to that neighborhood before.

They felt a curious tingle of excitement. It was different than just going to someplace new or the uncertainty of meeting people they didn’t know.  After all they had an invitation.

The time came for them to leave their home and drive to the party location. It took a while to find the house.  It was on a bit of a hill surrounded by wide open space with a curious collection of trees, not too big, and cactus reaching up into the night sky, and the strangest collection of wild flowers open at night that they had ever seen.

It was a beautiful home of considerable size. The door was wide open.  They could hear the sound of laughter inside.  That sound brought them to a complete stop. It was the sound of crackling happiness. There was a sweet kindness in the chatter and laughter.

There was thread of music mixed with that sound that felt welcoming. They each broke into a smile that spread through their whole bodies. They crossed the threshold and stepped into an atmosphere filled with happy people joyful to be together.

They were warmly greeted.  A delicious beverage was put into each of their hands. The fragrances and light were beautiful. There was the unmistakable air of anticipation oddly mixed with an ease or contentment.

They were curious, “How could this be?” They never felt anything like this before.

Their friend and the host and hostess found them. And they felt welcomed. Touched by a frequency of something they couldn’t quite identify, but it was there none the less powerful and present.

For two shy people, they were at ease and a smile spread across their whole body. They engaged in conversation, it was real, it was of the heart.

It was the kind of conversation they loved.

The evening advanced and prompted by an unspoken cue the crowd of people stepped through the open doors of the living room onto a patio, quite large. The night sky above seemed to twinkle with a sonic clarity they’d never experienced before.

Conversations continued and then a quietness filled the group. Over to the right of the patio they suddenly noticed a giant tree now luminous.  On every branch of this tree there were birds of color, large, small. There were raptors with giant talons.

You could imagine the group looking at this tree looking at a vast collection of birds.  There was awe and stillness.

The hosts in the center of the group said, “Welcome Beloveds” we have a gift for you.  These are not just birds as you know them.  These are your soaring spirit allies.  They told us to bring each of you here, because they want to come home to you.

The hosts raised their right arms and two beautiful strong birds lifted off the tree and came to their wrists, landed and rested there.

Then each person raised their right arm and a bird took off, came to them and landed. Todd and Jane couldn’t help themselves.  They were amazed. They raised their arms.  They saw to birds take off.  They couldn’t quite see them but the took ff.  They held their arms up and a great raptor swooshed and landed on each of their wrists.

There was no weight but there was clearly the warmth of life touching their wrists.  When they saw the talons of these great birds extended to land on their wrists a flash of terror went through them.

The terror dissolved in a twinkling when the talons fit perfectly around each of their wrists. And there was a rush of joy, of beauty of majesty that arose within them.  And they knew they had been found by something they had longed for.

There was stillness that came upon the group as each person’s spirit bird landed.

Then as if answering a silent command, everyone lay down on the ground. They looked up into the night sky.  Each person holding their spirit bird in this prone position looked up and every bird gave a cry that was sweet, sharp, powerful.

And the sky opened.  The night sky became alive with a dance of light. There appeared before each person a face of love.  It was the only way to describe what was there- A face of love.

And into each person came an onrush of impassioned hope, of unmistakable love and a vision of how to go forth in the world as a song of spirit, a creator of joy, a healer of wounds.

Some time passed and then everyone rose. Each person and their spirit bird bowed to one another. And everyone knew it was time to reenter the world to allow the majesty to unfold.

Inventing God- A Mental Safety Net

inventing God

“The Four Noble Truths comprise the essence of Buddha’s teachings. They are the truth of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering.” From the Basics of Buddhism / PBS-org.

Inventing God- A Mental Safety Net

The world and often our personal lives present us with the ever-present currency of suffering. We are surrounded by various forms of anguish that even the most hardened hearts can’t help but notice.

Have you ever raised your arms in humbling outrage at a circumstance that reflects such suffering that your heart aches?

Sometimes this suffering we see and feel points to a question that we all carry regardless of the depth of our “faith”.

Why would a loving God allow his “children” to suffer in such great ways over and over again?

For many this honest question presents a great challenge. The Buddha and other spiritual teachers have provided beautiful and powerful teachings that if we engage in them change the way we understand what suffering is and how to live with great compassion and a sacredly broken heart.

We’re surrounded by lots of evidence that there is a sacred living container that holds us in a field of aliveness enabling a daily spectrum of miraculous events to occur even in the midst of the jello-like field of suffering that is thick around us.

But our minds sometimes need a mental solution to a spiritual inquiry. We’ve been experimenting with the idea that follows and have found that it has an oddly calming effect on the constant engine of measurement, comparison, doubt, certainty and uncertainty that our minds engage in.

Discovered in the nineteenth century in the first law of thermodynamics is the law of conservation of energy, which states that the total energy of an isolated system is constant; energy can be transformed from one form to another, but can be neither created nor destroyed. (Wikipedia)

Consider this, the energetic systems that enliven you right now cannot be destroyed but can only change form.

The voracity of the aliveness you are that moves your blood, processes your food and allows you to read this will by necessity change form but will not be lost.

To appease the kernel of doubt in your mind that wonders if God really exists,

What if as a vast loving gesture you decided to use the energy that you are to create a loving anchor point in all of life, for all of life to bring peace and heal the suffering of our fellows.

The part of our minds that has doubt can rest with greater assuredness that all the knowing we have and the suffering we’ve endured won’t be lost but it can be used as a transformative energy.

That engine of doubt can be converted through the benefit of physics into a creative force that can add to the presence of love and true transformative energy on the planet.

This is not about megalomania or creating a false God, this is about making peace from doubt by giving doubt something irrefutable to chew on.

Closing the Gap

Closing the Gap

Something inside us instinctively knows we are part of something bigger. Some call it Source, The Divine, God, Life itself…. The words don’t matter. What does matter is that it is time for us all to close the gap that keeps us separate from Source.

This gap was created long ago, it’s in the DNA of humans, it’s impersonal but we have the power to change it.

We’ve learned that the most gentle and enlivening way to promote this homecoming is through curiosity, wonder and joy, and the wiliness to surrender what we “think” is true to what we “know” is true. You know, the truth that your heart sings not always what your personality wants.

This is the difference between leading with our own will versus allowing the will of the Life that is greater than we are to inform us first.

It’s why we emphasize noticing habits, conditionings, and belief structures that get in the way of our capacity to really know what is true and loving for ourselves.

In reviewing our history of joy, the greatest experiences have come to us not because we willed them but from a state of allowing, being surprised, serendipity and dancing in the moment.

How amazing is that? That we are so loved that we can pretend separation knowing that eventually we will admit we are held in love beyond our ability to reason it out.

It is time for closing the gap.

Take a breath before acting.
Allow the Spirit in the air to inform the next moment.
Feel the bubble of the joy of life percolating in your blood. It’s really there.
Let yourself be surprised beyond anything you can imagine.

We don’t have to wait until we die to close the gap even though it’s how we’ve been trained to believe.

And we’d love to hear your moments of surprise and delight where the miraculous shows up and there is no Gap. Like when the parking space magically appears or you think about someone and they call.

Independence- The Achy Dark Side

Tools for Thriving 2016

The Achy Dark Side of Independence

We’re trained to think of ourselves as independent maybe even “rugged individuals”. We can do it on our own.

The positive aspect of our independence is that we can empower choices to break free from situations, people and environments that are binding us into a smallness that’s hard on our hearts. In millions of ways, the dominant culture all around us encourages the idea of our independent separateness.

Think of the models of heroines and heroes that you know. They all chose to bring forth change from a position of independent knowing. They acted on what they felt they must for the benefit of many. This is the upside of choices made from a place of individual, independent being. After all, no one wants to be a slave to anything.

And yet, what is the actual source of their heroic energy?

The source is their sacred union with the vast divine (or God, Yahweh, Spirit, the Sacred, Oneness, the Christ, the Quantum Field, you pick) that we are and surrounds us right now.

The achy dark side of independence is when we think we can do it on our own and separate ourselves from Source. It points to a greater wisdom that keeps calling us to sacred unity and wholeness.

…And yet we resist.

Resistance comes from the conflict inside us between the knowing we are part of something more vast and our conditioned ideas of “I am a strong independent person who can choose on their own.”

How do we eradicate this separation from source?

We first admit our willful separateness.  This begins the instantaneous alteration of our habits of thinking embedded in our minds and the miles of nervous system that run through our bodies.

Once you become conscious of this achy dark side of independence, you can be welcomed like the prodigal son or daughter coming to the home we all long to find and experience again.

Why is this so important?

When we live from a place of independence- “My Will” not “Thy Will” we cut ourselves off from a treasure chest of dynamic wisdom that can revolutionize every moment of our lives.

Reunion with our wholeness, our sacred union with the vast divine is required for transformative healing. The choice to reunite, to give up independent willfulness, produces an atomic delightful alteration of our total body.

Do not look away from the need to surrender your sense of independence. By Nature we are interdependent with one another and all of the life that surrounds us.

You can allow greater access, greater love too flow towards you by bringing down your boundaries of individualism. Every human builds boundaries. It is part of the history of false independence. And no human makes it on their own.

Look back in your life and cross-reference everything you’ve planned or visioned in contrast to what the pure serendipity your life has brought you. Like us, you will find that choices made outside of all your “good plans” are what have brought joy, passion and an abundance of life. That history can remind you of a greater love that calls you to sacred reunion and that it’s okay to let go of independent and will-full behavior and thinking.

You know there is a home fire burning for you. The door is open and embracing love awaits your surrender and joyful reunion.

Reprogramming Understanding

Tools for Thriving

Reprogramming Understanding

Understanding in its purest form is a liberating energy. We’ve been trained to experience understanding in ways that keep us living in the comforts of habits that rub us raw.

Isn’t that amazing that our understanding can become conditioned to keep us boxed in.

We are designed to be ever expanding our comprehension of what life is and what we truly are. Some of the outrageous things that are happening in the world around us can be used to break us free from our self-limiting definition of understanding into a liberated life changing relationship to the sacredness of the word.

Understanding is the bridge that our wisdom flows across.

Each of us has a wisdom bank waiting to be turned on in a greater way. We can bring forth a brightness so that we can see, feel and know in new ways what is going on around us and within us.

We even know where the on switch is for our luminous wisdom. Why would we not always turn that switch on?

Once turned on the Light we are will show us what is too small to live in and what wide open path is calling us. Change will naturally occur as we claim freedom, true freedom in ever-greater ways.

Sometimes we keep the light of our wisdom turned off so we can maintain old-fashioned comforts that are in fact worn out and wearing us out. Understanding in ever-new ways keeps us fresh and enables the true nutrition of our wisdom to come present in our bodies and minds.

Today notice how many times you think the word ‘understanding’ or say, “I Understand”.

Ask yourself, am I understanding in new ways or old ways.

Notice what new actions are called for and where your heart is moved to go.

Allow your habits of understanding to become refreshed and updated to ‘Now’.

Keep the word understanding alive, not a habit that shrinks you.

The gift is that you will leave behind what has confined you. We invite you to risk who you think you are, who you think you understand yourself to be and the light of your wisdom will grow you as never before.

Thanks for journeying with us.

We’d love to hear from you below.

Our Bodies Contain Miracles Every Moment

miracles every moment

This very second you’re living in a miracle.

Our bodies contain miracles every moment. Your body is performing functions, creating cells, letting cells die and giving you a home to live in while you are here.

We’ve been studying the work of Dr. Joe Dispenza so that we can understand how to help ourselves and our clients truly reprogram their consciousness, their nervous systems and the patterns in their bodies and minds.
