Inventing God- A Mental Safety Net

inventing God

“The Four Noble Truths comprise the essence of Buddha’s teachings. They are the truth of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering.” From the Basics of Buddhism / PBS-org.

Inventing God- A Mental Safety Net

The world and often our personal lives present us with the ever-present currency of suffering. We are surrounded by various forms of anguish that even the most hardened hearts can’t help but notice.

Have you ever raised your arms in humbling outrage at a circumstance that reflects such suffering that your heart aches?

Sometimes this suffering we see and feel points to a question that we all carry regardless of the depth of our “faith”.

Why would a loving God allow his “children” to suffer in such great ways over and over again?

For many this honest question presents a great challenge. The Buddha and other spiritual teachers have provided beautiful and powerful teachings that if we engage in them change the way we understand what suffering is and how to live with great compassion and a sacredly broken heart.

We’re surrounded by lots of evidence that there is a sacred living container that holds us in a field of aliveness enabling a daily spectrum of miraculous events to occur even in the midst of the jello-like field of suffering that is thick around us.

But our minds sometimes need a mental solution to a spiritual inquiry. We’ve been experimenting with the idea that follows and have found that it has an oddly calming effect on the constant engine of measurement, comparison, doubt, certainty and uncertainty that our minds engage in.

Discovered in the nineteenth century in the first law of thermodynamics is the law of conservation of energy, which states that the total energy of an isolated system is constant; energy can be transformed from one form to another, but can be neither created nor destroyed. (Wikipedia)

Consider this, the energetic systems that enliven you right now cannot be destroyed but can only change form.

The voracity of the aliveness you are that moves your blood, processes your food and allows you to read this will by necessity change form but will not be lost.

To appease the kernel of doubt in your mind that wonders if God really exists,

What if as a vast loving gesture you decided to use the energy that you are to create a loving anchor point in all of life, for all of life to bring peace and heal the suffering of our fellows.

The part of our minds that has doubt can rest with greater assuredness that all the knowing we have and the suffering we’ve endured won’t be lost but it can be used as a transformative energy.

That engine of doubt can be converted through the benefit of physics into a creative force that can add to the presence of love and true transformative energy on the planet.

This is not about megalomania or creating a false God, this is about making peace from doubt by giving doubt something irrefutable to chew on.

You Are Not a Slave

Over Giver’s Anonymous

Not long ago, we formed a group called Over-Giver’s Anonymous with some of our clients. Anyone else relate?

We’ve been learning to give from our overflow not our core battery of life. This hasn’t always been easy for two fundamental caregivers. The following blog came with the help of our allies.

You are Not a Slave

Have you noticed lately that there seem to be a lot of demands for your attention? Not just the normal needs that can seem like a demand from our beloveds, but in other areas of your life as well.

Learning to notice and analyze the nature of a demand for our attention is how you stay free and in charge of how you spend your life force. This requires that you put your automatic behavior in slow motion mode. It is how you can stop over-giving.

The overuse of your kindness circuit that can get addicted to over-giving can sometimes lead to a loss of freedom and the feeling that you are “enslaved” to a job, a person, or a place.

Learning to feel and exercise freedom at this time in the world is the primary ingredient to being a contributor of love, possibility and healing for the planet.

The following is an invocation or prayer to help you claim in ever-greater ways your birthright as a free ultimately creative living being.

Oh Beloveds of Life,

Be reminded you were created in a spark of life that is boundless.
Be reminded that you are of life itself.
Be reminded your nature is freedom.

We hold you close and breathe into you a fresh breath of freedom
so that you may each step forth in freedom and empowerment
no matter where you are or what you are doing.

Sometimes a kindly act from you can produce a weakness in those you love.
Reminding someone that they have freedom and strength within them
and that they can stand up empowered
is more important than fixing the problem they have created.

We each must learn how to be in constructive community together helping each other to arise in strength combined with loving action to end the legacy of slavery.

If you are depleted and continue to give to those you love, your body will suffer.
Learning to not over-give is the foundation of a sustainable life.

Consider this, are you supporting a weakness
or calling up the strength, integrity and independence in another?

When we all arise in the vast love and freedom of our hearts
there is an unmistakable joy that fills the air because we are living out of our birthright
as sons and daughters of life itself.

There is a broadcast coming to you from the very heart of life
that is designed to produce a remembrance within you
that you are a free being and can act from that freedom at all times.

The tiniest gesture of an act from liberated freedom
can produce a cascade of joyful action and noticeable love.

Let us know if you want to join our group Over-Giver’s Anonymous. It’s a commitment to growing the skills to give from our abundance not from when we are depleted. We’re even forming a special online coaching group. If you are interested Click Here.

And if you’d like to comment we’d love to hear from you below.

Thanks for journeying with us.

Not the Surrender You Think

Our blog last Sunday was about surrendering to the Divine, Source, Spirit first in order to inform us before we act. Some might refer to it as acting from “thy will not my will.”

We had one comment from a childhood friend who completely disagreed “No disrespect intended, but I could not possibly disagree more fundamentally. Especially now…”

We are not for one moment suggesting surrendering to injustice and ignorance. On the contrary the “surrender” we refer to enables the best kind of fuel to promote real evolution and revolution.

To promote genuine long-lasting change requires a radicalization of thinking. Bullies need to be overpowered with muscle and actions through intention fueled by energies beyond our personal “thinking” ability.

This is not a time to stand down but a time to stand up with strength, wisdom and the willingness to act.

We are in a time where we must draw on all the wisdom available to us. Especially now…

Please share with us your divinely inspired acts.

Time to Surrender

It’s time to surrender our Will and be lead by the Divine.

There are many ways we protect ourselves from the greatness of life and possibilities that surround us. One way is by creating negative self-fulfilling prophecies that block our divine expression.

We have seen what happens when we create negative self-fulfilling prophecies, the kind where you have a bad feeling in your gut and some form of negative outcome comes true.

What negative self-fulfilling prophecies are running inside you that have been let loose and never ended that are in the way of your connection to your sacred blueprint and the rich passionate abundant and creative life you know is possible?

Have you had an imagined fear or a negative belief that you let run the show?

These negative self-fulfilling prophecies feel like a subtle friction that show up as a form of doubt where we forget about our sacred connection.

What can we do to move beyond that friction?

We can choose to call in a blessing to the noisy self -destructive negative creative patterns that cause us to stumble and feel like we can’t get to the state of the most loving and exciting vision of our lives.

Feel these places of friction, doubt and imaginary fear where there is no evidence to back it up. When you feel into those places and that line of energy and honor their presence then say the following prayer.

Prayer for Ending Negative Self Fulfilling Prophecies

As you address the fear say:

“Bless You and No More- I declare these energies to be complete and ask that these systems be replaced with love, wholeness, and holiness once again within me where the sacredness of this body comes home to itself.

Unlimited by my willfulness on this day, in this moment, I surrender my will in all the ways I protect myself from the greatness of life that surrounds me.

I release my will to reunite with the godhead, our Father, Mother, God. I let go and allow my love to prevail within me all the way to my cellular, electrical and structural fields.

I ask this for the highest good of all concerned. And to all of my ancestors I extend this blessing the reuniting of the holy of holies I am experiencing for it is my true birthright to be reunited with the source of all life, holy of holies, God, the Divine.

I offer this as a gift to all beings connected to me wherever they may be and whatever form they are in.

I take this breath now knowing that the spirit of resurrection comes within me and I rise up and step away from the deadness I have carried thinking it was my life.”

In love,

David and Susan

Adventure to Guatemala MotoGuat2017

Adventure to Guatemala Motoguat2017

We announced on Facebook this week our #motorcycle trip #MotoGuat2017 from San Miguel de Allende to Guatemala in February. We’ve ridden much of Mexico, US and Canada by motorcycle and now we’re adding Guatemala to the list.

Motorcycling is one way we satisfy our adventurous side. We can feel the air, smell the land and connect with people more easily than traveling by car. It’s also very meditative. One has to be present to ride.

And anyone can have adventure in their lives.

Adventure is a willingness to go beyond our habits of familiarizing everything.

There is beauty and life all around that if we really plug into it makes an ordinary day extraordinary. The greater life around us is just waiting for us to say yes to going beyond our current frameworks.

What adventure is waiting for you today?

Closing the Gap

Closing the Gap

Something inside us instinctively knows we are part of something bigger. Some call it Source, The Divine, God, Life itself…. The words don’t matter. What does matter is that it is time for us all to close the gap that keeps us separate from Source.

This gap was created long ago, it’s in the DNA of humans, it’s impersonal but we have the power to change it.

We’ve learned that the most gentle and enlivening way to promote this homecoming is through curiosity, wonder and joy, and the wiliness to surrender what we “think” is true to what we “know” is true. You know, the truth that your heart sings not always what your personality wants.

This is the difference between leading with our own will versus allowing the will of the Life that is greater than we are to inform us first.

It’s why we emphasize noticing habits, conditionings, and belief structures that get in the way of our capacity to really know what is true and loving for ourselves.

In reviewing our history of joy, the greatest experiences have come to us not because we willed them but from a state of allowing, being surprised, serendipity and dancing in the moment.

How amazing is that? That we are so loved that we can pretend separation knowing that eventually we will admit we are held in love beyond our ability to reason it out.

It is time for closing the gap.

Take a breath before acting.
Allow the Spirit in the air to inform the next moment.
Feel the bubble of the joy of life percolating in your blood. It’s really there.
Let yourself be surprised beyond anything you can imagine.

We don’t have to wait until we die to close the gap even though it’s how we’ve been trained to believe.

And we’d love to hear your moments of surprise and delight where the miraculous shows up and there is no Gap. Like when the parking space magically appears or you think about someone and they call.
