What will you die sooner from?
Would you believe that a person will die from total lack of sleep sooner than from starvation? Death will occur in about 10 days without sleep, while starvation takes a few weeks. Even though we might be well fed, it’s possible we’re starving for sleep.
During this time of challenge and change, it’s really important when we’re sleeping to actually get rest. Here are some tips.
1. Don’t use your brain cells like paper. Before going to sleep write down every “to do”, “not done”, desire or idea that’s tumbling around in your mind. This doesn’t have to be a detailed list, just bullets.
2. Have a comforting bath or shower.
3. If you’re used to watching TV before going to bed try listening to an audiobook.
4. Alcohol can disrupt the sequence and duration of sleep states in part because of the sugars in it. Try changing the quantity of wine or alcohol you consume or the time you drink it.
