Revolution or Evolution?

Revolution or Evolution

Interesting Fact

Have you ever thought about the difference between revolution and evolution?

The Online Etymological Dictionary  defines ‘Revolution’ as “revolving, to turn, roll back.”
The term ‘Evolution’ is defined as “an opening of what was rolled up” as well as “the growth to maturity and development of an individual living thing”.

Revolution or Evolution

Instead of being revolutionaries, how about we all become evolutionaries; Impassioned individuals that unroll a future allowing the growth and maturity longed for to emerge free from the legacy of stagnant commitments that keep us going in circles.

Radical Idea

You probable have heard Einstein’s definition of insanity- doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Commitments that are designed to keep us, and everyone around us, in the same place even though they may seem revolutionary are unlikely to produce a sustainable evolutionary change. What if the roots of a richly fulfilled life must exceed any ideas we have about revolution and must be anchored in the unfolding, unrolling of life- evolution.

Some Tips

1. This week let go three times when you think you should be holding on. Letting go means in your brain, your body, and your spirit.

2. Practice letting go by holding something tightly in your hand and release it. Make some part of your body contract and then release it.

3. Ask yourself, “Am I just revolving or evolving?”

Wisdom Prescription

Create a banquet of kindness for all of your revolutionary courage. Celebrate the strength it took to want something different. Invite evolution to sit at the same table. Encourage them to become allies. You’ll never see the world the same again.
